The Best Places to Propose in the Washington, DC Area

Virginia may be for lovers, but you don't have to cross the Potomac to find a romantic park. In this post, award-winning photographer Nat Wongsaroj shares some of the very best places in Maryland, the District, and Virginia to propose, take engagement photos, or go on a date.

Nat's Picks:
Very scenic place for a photo shoot. It's almost like it was designed to have intimate spot after intimate spot. Tons of gazebos of different types, bridges, benches under trees, next to ponds, among the flowers.

Brookside Garden in Wheaton, MD
Hidden away behind busy streets just outside the beltway, it's definitely one of the hidden gems of Montgomery County.  The sprawling acres contain 2 greenhouses, a visitor's center, and a plethora of walkways, gazebos and lakes. A paradise for nature lovers.

Georgetown Waterfront Park in Washington, DC
A space that was formerly a parking lot, now converted into a beautiful waterfront park. The park features water views, various dockside happy hours (with live music in the summers and ice skating rink in the winter),  river boat sightseeing tours and the brand new fountain/bench area. It's fantastic park on the waterfront in the heart of Washington, DC.

Photography has always been my passion since I was very young. As far as I can remember, I've always had a camera with me wherever I travel. Years ago, I used to spend hours everyday in the darkroom processing black and white photos when I was trained professionally — It was such a fond memory that still inspires me everyday. I always feel like I have a special connection with the camera and I have always felt that there is something magical when you look through the viewfinder, release the shutter and capture the moment through your own unique perspective and share it with the world.

Our photography style is a combination between photojournalism and fine-art photography with a touch of creative lighting. Our photographs are inspired by light, color (and the lack of), techniques from Black & White processing, vintage photos, creative perspective and of course, the personality of the people we photograph! We strive to create timeless, storytelling photographs that will help you and your family capture the most important moments of your life that will stay with you eternally.
